Questions

FAQ

Short answers to the things people ask.

Is it free?
Yes. No price, no subscription, no cash shop and no pay-to-win, ever. The code is open source under the AGPL, and the art and writing are under Creative Commons BY-NC.
When can I play?
Not yet. The first downloadable build arrives at the end of Phase 2, when two players can walk around the same small world and see each other. There's no date: the progress page shows exactly how far along it is.
Which platforms?
Windows, macOS and Linux, with a browser version planned for Phase 15. There won't be native phone apps.
How many players can it handle?
The goal is hundreds to thousands of players online at the same time. That's a target, not a claim. The scaling model splits it into three problems (many quiet connections, many active players spread across zones, and a crowd in one place) with measured targets for each, and this site won't state a player count as fact until it has been measured on real hardware and recorded in the repository.
Is it like World of Warcraft?
It takes its spirit from early WoW: a persistent world, zones, quests, grouping and the sense that the world carries on without you. It's much smaller, top-down and drawn in pixel art.
How do I follow along?
Read the devlog (there's an RSS feed), watch the progress page, or star the repository on GitHub or Codeberg.
Is it made with AI?
Yes, openly. AI agents write the code and hand-draw the pixel art under the owner's direction, and a few large painted images started in an image generator. How it's made has the details.
